Life is always stressful and sometimes things get unmanageable. A mid-life crisis is usually problems in your career or relationships, often both. Money and/or sex is usually involved. This crisis is mainly emotional which can then easily affect you physically too.
The crisis is your emotions crying out for change. Simultaneously your subconscious is protecting you. It is trying to get you to reject change through fear. When you are ready to face your mid-life crisis fears, make healthy choices, and create your new life without inner conflict you are ready for change and recovery.
The emotional part of our body can be the most difficult to manage and understand. It plays a large role in our emotional imbalances and physical ailments. When left unchecked it can “make” us do anything. Frequently the things we do to “self- medicate” our emotions (alcohol, gambling, affairs, financial decisions) are much more destructive than the original problem. Bad decisions lead to conflict which only makes the original problem worse. We must accept that change is inevitable so we might as well face it and make it our best decisions ever. Physical and emotional pain comes from the same part of the brain and work together in pulling us down.
We can have a perfect body and be an emotional mess and soon our body will pay the price too. We can do so much damage and harm to ourselves if we are not conscious of, or don’t take the time to care for our emotions. Any deficiency creates a blockage which inevitably leads to discomfort or illness. It is crucial that we care for our emotional being.
As a coach I use a number of tools to help people work through their mid-life crisis and find the true happiness in life they want. One of the most effective tools I use is EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) also known as Tapping. My next blog will be on how Tapping works.
